Hey everyone! Before I go into what this blog is really about, I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m Whitney, the New Media Manager for fitmixer®. I basically oversee all the content we put out on the web… nothing too special! Outside of work, I love to travel, take pictures, eat good food (preferably of the “ethnic” variety), and hang out with my friends, new husband (!), & dogs.
What most people don’t know about me is that I’ve been a blogger for quite a long time. It’s always mostly been for personal records – a “diary” if you will – but recently, I’ve fancied blogging about my travel and outdoor adventure experiences.
Because of this, we decided it would be a great idea if I started writing “adventure” blogs for fitmixer®. I can’t promise interesting posts on a weekly basis, but I will try my hardest (a girl can only be so adventurous!).
Okay, let’s get this party started. This week I’m going to tell you all about my hike at Antelope Island State Park in Utah. (Just in case any of you didn’t know, fitmixer® is based out of Utah). It was me and my husband’s first time there, even though we both grew up only an hour away from it. Antelope Island is the largest island to sit in the Great Salt Lake, and is accessible by car via a long causeway. The island is home to wildlife (antelope, buffalo, birds), many awesome hiking trails, and, of course, the infamous “stank” of the Great Salt Lake.
Since it was our first time back at hiking in about three months (reasons including a the summer heat and planning our wedding), we decided on a shorter trail called Buffalo Point Trail, which was about 0.4 miles one-way. Though the climb was steep at times, it felt really good to finally be hiking again. And once we got to the very top, we were rewarded with an amazing 360-view of the calm, blue waters of the lake.
I can attest that I couldn’t have done this hike as easily if I hadn’t chugged my fitmixer® amino®, a tasty BCAA (branch chain amino acid) supplement, beforehand. We’ve been active in the outdoors for a long time, even before I started working here, so I can really say that the amino® has made a huge difference in my stamina. It gives me that extra boost of energy that I need, in addition to keeping me hydrated enough to engage in such sometimes-strenuous activity. I’m a grape amino® fan, so it was easy to drink it all without even stopping. It seriously is so delicious! And I’m not just saying any of this because I work here
Anyway, here are some pictures from our trip to the island:
What’s your favorite outdoor activity? Do you use fitmixer® amino® to keep you going?
