There’s nothing that can throw off a good exercise streak like a vacation. Vacations are meant to be relaxing and indulgent. While it’s always nice to get out of town, it’s so important that we keep our workouts going. Once you get into a good rhythm, you want to do everything you can to stay there. Keeping your exercise up while on vacation can be easy. There are plenty of options; you just need to figure out what is going to work for you. Almost every gym does a “day pass” or “guest pass.” If there is a gym close to where you’re staying, you can have full access for a small fee. Hotels usually have their own little gyms and sometimes pools are nice to swim a few laps in. If you’re not motivated by the tiny little room they’ve stored the exercise equipment in, you can always go for a scenic run. I love this because you get to explore wherever it is that you’re staying while getting in your exercise. Whether it be on the beach or around the city, outdoor runs are always enjoyable. Push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, and squats are always an option in your hotel room. You just need a small space and your body weight.
There is no excuse for not working out while out of town. There are plenty of options for everyone. It’s so important to keep yourself in your routine, because getting there in the first place is one of the most challenging parts of a healthy lifestyle. Keep your commitment with yourself. You can still enjoy your time away, but being healthy is a daily choice—no matter where you are.
